Here it is, the middle of the summer (almost) and I'm already thinking of the new school year. Last night my husband and I went to the town carnival to see the sights and help out with the Bingo Booth. I spent most of my time talking with old students and looking at faces of potential new students. I'm already getting excited to meet my new students and see "the places we go" next year.
We are starting a new math series, Everyday Math, and it looks quite formidable. I am glad we are getting the E-suite component . I think being able to access info from home or other places will be helpful. If you have used Everyday Math, I'd like to hear your comments and suggestions on how to get started. We had our first training on July 1st, and will have another one at the end of July. Please let me know what your thoughts are!

We have used Everyday Mathematics for years now. I am personally not a big fan of it in the sixth grade but our elementary teachers love it. The hardest thing for many teachers to do was adobt the whole philosophy of spiralling. There is not much mastery at many of the lessons and this bothers many teachers I work with. But our school has the data to show that the programs that used EDM way outperformed those that didn't. Much had to do with assessments. EDM really makes the children think!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of their games and whole heartedly suggest purchasing the game kits and software and incorporating the games into your daily plans. It will be worth it!!!
Good luck!!
I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of it! We will have e-suite and all of the games but the management is what scares me! Whew! I am looking forward to seeing the results. Thanks for sharing. Any other comments?
